Fino Olive Oil recalled

Fino Olive Oil recalls all bottles of six varieties of its infused olive oil products due to concerns over its procedures in place to control Clostridium botulinum

The effectiveness of process controls that could potentially affect the safety of infused olive oil products produced by Fino Olive Oil, cannot be demonstrated satisfactorily. The issue relates to controlling factors to prevent the growth and toxin production of Clostridium botulinum. This may cause a serious form of food poisoning called botulism. Therefore, a recall from customers is being carried out as a precautionary measure.

• Garlic Olive Oil
• Chilli Olive Oil
• Lemon Olive Oil
• Orange Olive Oil
• Rosemary Olive Oil

Fino Olive Oil is recalling the above products. Product recall notices are being displayed in stores supplied, advising consumers of the recall and what they can do if they have bought the affected products.

Basil Pesto Pasta Recalled Due to Listeria

Tjs Place of Kirkland Washington is voluntarily recalling approx. 20 containers of Basil Pesto Pasta packed in 8 oz plastic tubs because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The recalled Basil Pesto Pasta was sold between the dates 8/18/14 and 8/21/14. The Basil Pesto Pasta affected by this recall has a sticker on the side of the container with either of the following codes: 0825, 0826, 0827, 0828

Basil Pesto Pasta was distributed in convenience stores, pharmacies, cafes and espresso stands located in King and Snohomish counties in Washington State.

The potential for contamination was discovered after routine testing by the Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in a container of the Basil Pesto Pasta.

Tjs Place has suspended production and distribution of the product while WSDA and the company continue to investigate the source of the problem.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled product are urged not to eat it and to dispose of it or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 425-444-3700 between the hours of 2pm and 4pm.

Organic Basil sold at Trader Joes Recalled Due to Salmonella

Infinite Herbs LLC of Miami, Florida is voluntarily recalling one lot of its 2.5 ounce packages of Organic Basil because of potential contamination with Salmonella. Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The recall only affects one specific lot of Infinite Herbs brand Organic Basil packaged in 2.5 ounce clamshell bearing the "Date Packed 02/21 20422". The "Date Packed" information can be found on the back side label below the country of origin statement. The product was only distributed to Trader Joe's stores located in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Southern Virginia and Tennessee.

The voluntary recall was initiated by Infinite Herbs after routine testing by the FDA revealed the presence of Salmonella in one lot of Organic Basil. Subsequent testing conducted at the request of Infinite Herbs and the retailer on other lots of Organic Basil located at the retail locations, as well as at the grower, resulted in no findings of contamination of any additional lots.
