Wegmans recalls chicken products

 Wegmans Food Markets Inc., a Rochester, N.Y. establishment, is recalling approximately 1,125 pounds of chicken products that were produced without the benefit of federal inspection, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

The chicken items were produced on Jan. 3, 2016. The following products are subject to recall: [View Labels ]

• Approximately 1-lb. vacuum-sealed packages containing “Wegmans Italian Flavored Chicken Breast Cutlet” with a use-by date of 1/24/2016.
• Approximately 1-lb. vacuum-sealed packages containing “Wegmans Brown Sugar Barbecue Seasoned Chicken Breast Cutlet” with a use-by date of 1/15/2016.
• 3-lb. vacuum-sealed packages containing “Wegmans Garlic & Fennel Whole Chicken Roaster” with a use-by date of 1/13/2016.
• 1-lb. vacuum-sealed packages containing “Wokery Sherry Chicken 27482” with use-by date of 1/13/2016.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. or P-7567” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to distribution and retail locations in Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

The problem was discovered by FSIS inspection personnel during a review of establishment records. The inspector found that the establishment changed their production schedule, producing these products outside the approved hours of operation.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Wegmans Octopus Salad recalled due to Listeria

Uoriki Fresh, Inc. (UF) of Secaucus, NJ is recalling its "Octopus Salad", because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes (LA1) , an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffuess, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeriainfection can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The Octopus Salad was distributed to one Wegmans Food Market store in Manalapan, NJ, where it was packaged in an 8 oz. plastic tray or sold by the pound in the seafood department with the label Wegmans Fresh Octopus Salad. Recalled product was sold from December 18 - 24, 2015 and labeled with best before dates ranging from December 21 - 24.

The potential for contamination was noted after routine testing by UF, which revealed the presence of LM in Wegmans Octopus Salad sold in 8oz plastic trays or sold by the pound.

Consumers who have purchased Wegmans Octopus Salad that was sold from December 18-24 and labeled with best before dates ranging from December 21-24 are urged to return product to store or discard product.

Wegmans and Dierbergs recalls Pine Nuts,due to Salmonella

St. Louis, November 5, 2015 - In response to a voluntary product recall by World Variety Produce, Inc., Dierbergs Markets has removed the following product from its shelves because of the potential for contamination with Salmonella:

Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Mussels and Scallops recalled due to listeria contamination

Wegmans has recalled Ducktrap Smoked Mussels and Smoked Scallops,
Batch/UPC Code:	Ducktrap Smoked Mussels, 6oz  - UPC: 08267403923 Ducktrap Smoked Scallops, 6oz - UPC: 08267403925 These products were only sold at the stores in Pittsford NY, Northborough MA, Chestnut Hill MA, and Burlington MA.
Reason for Recall:	Ducktrap River of Maine has recalled these products because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The affected packages were sold at Wegmans stores between August 19, 2015 and October 5, 2015. All product may be returned for a full refund. Wegmans Food Markets recalls Frozen Spinach due to listeria contamination

Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. is recalling approximately 12,540 packages of Wegmans Organic Food You Feel Good About Just Picked Frozen Spinach, 12 oz.(UPC 77890-32932) due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The product was sold in the frozen food department of the company’s 85 stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, and Massachusetts between January 27 and March 21, 2015. Only packages with the following codes are affected:

This product is supplied to Wegmans by Twin City Foods, Inc. based in Stanwood, Washington.

L. monocytogenes is a bacterium that can contaminate foods and cause a mild non-invasive illness (called listerial gastroenteritis) or a severe, sometimes life-threatening, illness (called invasive listeriosis). Persons who have the greatest risk of experiencing listeriosis after consuming foods contaminated with L. monocytogenes are fetuses and neonates who are infected after the mother is exposed to L. monocytogenes during pregnancy, the elderly, and persons with weakened immune systems. Customers who have experienced these symptoms and are concerned should contact their physician.

No illnesses associated with this recall have been reported to date.

Wegmans will place automated phone calls to customers who purchased the product using their Shoppers Club card. Customers who purchased the recalled products from Wegmans should return it to the service desk for a full refund.

Wegmans Organic Walnut Halves & Pieces Recalled Due to Salmonella Contamination

First Source, LLC of Buffalo, New York is voluntarily recalling 3,276 plastic tubs (6 oz.) of Wegmans Organic Walnut Halves & Pieces because the product may be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The recalled Wegmans Organic Walnut Halves & Pieces 6 oz tubs were distributed to Wegmans’ 85 stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, and Massachusetts and sold between January 27, 2015 and March 17, 2015.

The recall was initiated as a result of a report received by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration which detected Salmonella In specific grower lots of organic walnuts.

Del Monte Fresh Recalling Fresh Cut Fruit Due to Listeria

Del Monte Fresh Produce N.A., Inc. (“Del Monte Fresh”) announced today the voluntary recall of fresh cut fruit containing Gala red apples grown in Pennsylvania. The affected product was distributed to a limited number of customers in a few States in North East US and is being recalled because these apples have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes , an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

Listeriosis symptoms may include fever and muscle aches, sometimes preceded by diarrhea and other gastrointestinal distress, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among women who are pregnant.

A total of 3,051 consumer packages containing fresh cut red apples were distributed to Giant Eagle, Amazonfresh, Sunoco, Peter’s Fruit, Wegmans, Sheetz and 7-Eleven and have “Best If Enjoyed By” dates of 12/3/14, 12/6/14, 12/7/14 and 12/8/14. The fresh cut red apples have a red color skin. The recalled fresh cut fruit packages containing red apples were distributed for sale in clear plastic containers with one of the following labels and markings:
