How to Stop the Spread of Salmonella in Your Household

If someone in your household has salmonella these steps will help stopping the spread
the to the rest of your family. These steps are also good for any bacterial disease that
causes diarrhea.

1. Careful hand washing with soap is the most important preventive measure to take.
2. Do not share towels
3. Use gloves when handling soiled articles from ill people.
4. Maintain good personal hygiene and hygienic preparation/serving of food

5.If you have a gastrointestinal illness, don't return to work, especially if you are a food
handler or work with vulnerable individuals  until you have been symptom-free for 48 hrs

6. Don't visit patients in local hospitals and long-term care facilities. While many people
tend to feel better sooner, illness can still be spread if they return to work or school within

48 hours
