Low levels of Listeria monocytogenes have been detected in the above batch of Burren Smokehouse Ltd smoked organic salmon.
Nature Of Danger:
A low level of the pathogen was detected in the smoked salmon; however, because Listeria monocytogenes can grow at refrigeration temperatures, there is a risk that the bacteria could grow to harmful levels. Listeriosis is a serious disease which can be life threatening, particularly for pregnant women, the elderly and other people with a weakened immune system.
Action Required:
Consumers who have bought the implicated batch should dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase.
