Recall: Sunflower Seeds and Snack Mixes for Llisteria

Lipari , a snack food company from Warren Michigan has recalled Raw Sunflower Seeds, Roasted Sunflower Seed, and Snack Mixes.  They are among 52 items distributed from April 5 to June 11 to manufacturers and retailers in Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana.

A Michigan Department of Agriculture sampling project revealed that retail packaged raw sunflower seed products contained Listeria. Lipari says the company's investigation pointed to bulk seeds purchased from a supplier.

Because the sunflower seeds were shipped to other manufacturers they may be sold under other labels.
I will blog more information as soon as I get more information on the exact products that were recalled.

In the mean time if you live in one of the states mentioned you probably should stay away from sunflower seeds.
