Third Recall for Listeria this year by Latis Seafood

  • The New York Department of Agriculture and Market Food Inspectors found various products to be contaminated with listeria. The recalled Latis Brand Seafood products are packaged in various sizes plastic oval type containers. All container sizes are affected. The UPC numbers for the products begin with 75100407. The product was sold nationwide.
Listeria can cause serious complications for pregnant women, such as stillbirth. Other problems can manifest in             people with compromised immune systems. Listeria can also cause serious flu-like symptoms in healthy individuals. In  the United States Listeria has a death rate of 20% for listeriosis. It can take up to thirty days before symptoms appear.
.. Consumers who have purchased Latis Brand Seafood Products should not consume them, but should return them to the place of purchase .Consumers with questions may contact the company at 718-439-0376
This is the third recall by Latis for listeria this year. There is no excuse. There is a spray containing phage that is used to rid seafood of Listeria. It is used on salmon in Washington State.  Hopefully Latis Brand will get there act together or possibly they should be shut down.
